First of all credit to OC who were definately up for the contest and made it very difficult for the Lions to get their free flowing running game up and going. A combination of this and poor football from the Lions made this game very much a contest. However a sign of any good side is one that can win even if not playing to their potential and this was exactly what happaned. It was the Lions old stagers and class players that got the team over the line. Freddy and Stinger were everywhere in the middle, JV was providing a very strong target at CHF, Richo was rebounding well of half back and Jack was lively in the forward line.
The game served as a good wake up call for the task ahead if the Lions are to successfully defend their title in Kentucky. Let's make the commitment for the next 4 or 5 weeks, train hard and be in tip top condition because nothing less is acceptable.
On a side note the Lions hope the two guys that were injured during the game are doing okay. As intense as the battles are between San Diego and OC and even though both incidents were fair, it's not nice to see serious concussions.
The final score was:
San Diego 6.14.50 def Orange County 6.3.39

SD Goals: P Hanton 2, J Cameron 2, A Cannane 1, J Blankman 1
